a pulse, cartographies are a series of precarious sculptures that incorporate objects implying the delineation of space, such as property markers, utility poles, or laser levels. These objects are dis-oriented to reconsider the latent assumptions embedded within spatial schemas. Rational foundations of measurement collapse into absurd imagination, and elements of abandoned infrastructure hint towards the deterioration of social systems.
Consisting of flowing electricity, water, light, and tensioned assemblies, this work engages with the active participation of matter itself. The objects and materials, far from being inert, evoke action—subtle exchanges of energy, movement, and potentiality. Matter, in this context, is both an originator and an interlocutor, active in the processes of spatial delineation.
This interplay underscores a critique of fixed spatial hierarchies, replacing them with an acknowledgment of the fluid, entangled becomings of space. Each work emerges from a dialogue between material presence and the structure of space, where the very substance of the sculptures pulse with the tension of order and chaos, systems and decay.
